About this set

A monk-like sacred figure walks a lantern-lined path at sunset, while a Buddha sits on a lotus pedestal beside a wooden temple. Set 12 is a two-design collection built around warm light and quietly detailed landscapes.

Rings on the staff, a glowing jewel, flowers along the stone path, gold-patterned fabric, lotus petals and temple beams provide details within the calm scenes. Orange, red, navy and gold in the references offer starting points for exploring different kinds of warmth in sky and cloth.

Mori no Akari Series

Shinbutsu no Saika is a collection of Japanese-inspired sacred fantasy illustrations presented as line art with color references. Set 12 invites you to reinterpret its landscapes, robes and ornaments in your own palette.

What is included

• A monk-like sacred figure carrying a ringed staff and luminous jewel along a stone path. Orange robes, lanterns, red flowers and a sunset over layered mountains define the scene. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.
• A Buddha seated on a lotus pedestal beside a temple veranda. A golden halo, patterned red-and-navy robes, foreground lotus flowers, distant mountains and temples create a peaceful sense of depth. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.

2 line-art images and 2 color references, 4 images in total. One A4 PDF and one US Letter (8.5 × 11 inch) PDF are included, each with 4 pages. The 4 original JPG images are also included. Both PDFs contain the same 2 designs in different paper sizes; they are not additional designs.

Files and printing

Unzip the download and choose the PDF that matches your paper: A4 or US Letter. Check your printer's printable area and use an appropriate fit-to-page setting so the artwork is not cropped.

The original JPGs can be opened in a compatible image application. Original image proportions are preserved, so white margins vary between images and paper sizes. Dedicated 8 × 10 inch and 11 × 14 inch PDFs are not included.

Coloring ideas

Build the sunset gradually from yellow through orange into violet, then deepen the robes with red or brown. Preserve brightness in the jewel and halo, and use quieter tones for stone and wood to emphasize the figures.

You do not need to copy the references exactly. Choose paper suitable for your coloring materials and enjoy your own combinations of colors.

Who may enjoy this set

For those who enjoy sunset paths, lantern light and peaceful Buddhist imagery, in a compact two-design collection.
