About this set

Moonlit blossoms, a white lotus above the clouds, and a white elephant moving through lotus water form the gentle world of Set 07. These three bodhisattva illustrations emphasize graceful poses, luminous settings and flowing fabric.

Layered purple robes, ornate crowns and halos, pale petals and decorated elephant trappings provide delicate details. The rhythm of many hands, the movement of clouds and the passage through flowers each offer a different composition to explore.

Mori no Akari Series

Shinbutsu no Saika is a collection of Japanese-inspired sacred fantasy illustrations presented as line art with color references. Set 07 invites you to reinterpret its landscapes, robes and ornaments in your own palette.

What is included

• A many-armed bodhisattva seated on a rock beside blossoms and a full moon. Purple robes, a lotus, wheel and beads surround a gentle face with one hand resting against the cheek. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.
• A bodhisattva on a white lotus floating above the clouds. White-and-gold robes, a detailed crown and halo, distant peaks and a tower create an airy scene. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.
• A bodhisattva riding a decorated white elephant through lotus water. Pale violet robes, flowers, flying birds and pink-gold light soften the composition. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.

3 line-art images and 3 color references, 6 images in total. One A4 PDF and one US Letter (8.5 × 11 inch) PDF are included, each with 6 pages. The 6 original JPG images are also included. Both PDFs contain the same 3 designs in different paper sizes; they are not additional designs.

Files and printing

Unzip the download and choose the PDF that matches your paper: A4 or US Letter. Check your printer's printable area and use an appropriate fit-to-page setting so the artwork is not cropped.

The original JPGs can be opened in a compatible image application. Original image proportions are preserved, so white margins vary between images and paper sizes. Dedicated 8 × 10 inch and 11 × 14 inch PDFs are not included.

Coloring ideas

Use pale blue or lavender shadows to give the white lotus and elephant dimension. Build light layers in the robes and background, then use gold-toned accents to emphasize the decorative details.

You do not need to copy the references exactly. Choose paper suitable for your coloring materials and enjoy your own combinations of colors.

Who may enjoy this set

For those who love lotus flowers, moonlight, clouds and white elephants, or enjoy pale palettes with intricate decorative accents.
