About this set

A celestial figure in a lantern-lit corridor, a many-armed guardian in blue flames, and a gold-armored protector beside a white elephant bring grace, intensity and dignity together in Set 09.

Pale pink fabric and floating ribbons contrast with lightning-like blue light and intricately decorated golden armor. Temple railings, blossoms, autumn foliage, clouds and mountains add detailed settings around each figure.

Mori no Akari Series

Shinbutsu no Saika is a collection of Japanese-inspired sacred fantasy illustrations presented as line art with color references. Set 09 invites you to reinterpret its landscapes, robes and ornaments in your own palette.

What is included

• A celestial figure holding a luminous sphere at the chest. Pink and ivory robes, floating ribbons, autumn flowers, maple leaves and lanterns animate a temple corridor. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.
• A many-faced, many-armed guardian on rocky ground amid blue flames and lightning. Praying hands overlap with weapon-bearing arms, and a black water buffalo stands nearby. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.
• A crowned protector in gold armor beside a white elephant. A long weapon, blue-and-white fabric, cloud-framed temples and mountains form an expansive, luminous scene. Includes one color reference and one matching line-art image.

3 line-art images and 3 color references, 6 images in total. One A4 PDF and one US Letter (8.5 × 11 inch) PDF are included, each with 6 pages. The 6 original JPG images are also included. Both PDFs contain the same 3 designs in different paper sizes; they are not additional designs.

Files and printing

Unzip the download and choose the PDF that matches your paper: A4 or US Letter. Check your printer's printable area and use an appropriate fit-to-page setting so the artwork is not cropped.

The original JPGs can be opened in a compatible image application. Original image proportions are preserved, so white margins vary between images and paper sizes. Dedicated 8 × 10 inch and 11 × 14 inch PDFs are not included.

Coloring ideas

Try light layers for the celestial robes, a bright-to-dark gradient for the blue flames, and gold with brown shadows for the armor. Echoing some background light on the figures can help unify each scene.

You do not need to copy the references exactly. Choose paper suitable for your coloring materials and enjoy your own combinations of colors.

Who may enjoy this set

For fans of celestial figures, armored protectors and white elephants, or anyone who enjoys contrasting fabric, metal and flame.
